Zaozhuang's 'Packaging +' Initiative: Paving the Path for Future Prosperity

Zaozhuang City is experiencing growth in alternative fuel vehicle innovation and the clustering of the lithium battery industry. This development has led to a series of synergistic effects, involving numerous industry leaders.

One example is ORG’s Zaozhuang project.

ORG, a leading company in metal packaging, has built production lines of precision structural components of batteries in Zaozhuang, with an annual production capacity of 10 million sets.

In March, ORG issued an announcement revealing plans to invest self-raised funds into the sector of precision structural parts. Among its notable partners is Beijing Weilan, a company that has garnered significant attention in the field of renewable energy.

Over half a year later, on November 18th, ORG’s Zaozhuang production base was honored as the first stop of the "Strong Industry, Great Transformation" construction site tour. This event, co-hosted by Zaozhuang Municipal Party Committee and Xuecheng District Party Committee, also selected our location as its principal meeting venue in the Xuecheng District. Zhou Yuan, Vice Chairman of ORG, extended a warm welcome to the visiting delegation.

As Zaozhuang embraces clean energy in a new wave of industrialization, and ORG simultaneously undergoes a transformation in metal packaging, what notable achievements will emerge from this synergy in the clean energy sector for both ORG and Zaozhuang?

Synergizing Packaging with New Industrialization: A Blueprint for Progress

As a key project in Zaozhuang City's initiative for "Strong Industry, Great Transformation", the project's hub for precision structural parts of renewable energy batteries and two-piece aluminum cans hosted the delegation of nearly 90 visitors.

Zhou Yuan, Vice Chairman of ORG, briefed the visiting delegation on the project's progress and operations.

Zhou Yuan highlighted that as a frontrunner in the metal packaging industry, ORG's investment in clean energy projects in Zaozhuang, a burgeoning hub for the lithium battery sector, signifies more than just an expansion beyond its traditional business. It also embodies ORG's dedication to driving its own transformation and aligning with the nation's strategic directives.

In March, ORG disclosed its intention to allocate self-raised funds towards establishing a renewable energy battery precision structural parts project in Zaozhuang, Shandong. With a substantial investment of 200 million yuan, the initiative primarily focuses on the production of power batteries and storage batteries for alternative fuel vehicles. The project is progressing rapidly: construction commenced in April, equipment installation and testing took place in June, the Class 100,000 cleanrooms became operational in August, and the supplier system evaluation was finalized in October.

In recent years, Zaozhuang has earned the title of "Lithium Capital of Northern China " with its industrial clusters demonstrating significant advantages. Leading companies such as Geely Group, Xinwangda, Seiko Electronics, Fengyuan Lithium Energy, and Sinoma Lithium Film, along with numerous projects, are collaboratively shaping an industrial ecosystem of the renewable energy sector in Zaozhuang.

The ORG production base in Zaozhuang is set to be equipped with two automated production lines dedicated to manufacturing precision structural parts primarily for prismatic batteries. This setup is projected to achieve an annual production capacity of 10 million sets.

Moving forward, ORG plans to enhance its investment in the research and development of cylindrical power batteries. This initiative represents a strategic advancement in ORG's "Industry +" approach.

As a city historically rooted in coal resources, Zaozhuang is proactively forging partnerships with new industries, paving the way for its future economic development.

Joining Hands in Zaozhuang: Together Sowing Seeds for a Flourishing Industrial Ecosystem

Precision structural parts of power batteries serve as a critical component in alternative fuel vehicles, positioning them as a vital support industry for the green energy sector.

These components, essential in housing battery modules, are pivotal in guaranteeing stable and safe battery operation. Beyond ensuring structural strength, stiffness, and crash safety, they also adhere to stringent requirements such as the IP67 protection level for electrical equipment enclosures.

Consequently, the development of precision structural parts represents a significant infrastructural venture for Zaozhuang, underpinning the city's efforts to cultivate a robust support industry for lithium batteries.

For ORG, this venture is more than a mere expansion. Having established itself as a leader in China's metal packaging industry through 30 years of diligent effort, ORG is now broadening its horizons to the power battery sector, beginning with precision structural parts.

This new endeavor holds the potential to catalyze the growth of Zaozhuang's clean energy industry cluster.

Yet, ORG's connection with Zaozhuang isn't a recent development.

The company's history with the city predates this project, having served as a comprehensive packaging service provider to Tsingtao Brewery (Zaozhuang) Co., Ltd, which is also the second destination on the delegation’s tour.

ORG stands as the most substantial and long-standing packaging partner for Tsingtao Beer, supplying cans to its production facilities across the nation through its dedicated "close service". The expansion of ORG's Zaozhuang production base is a testament to this partnership. This facility not only offers canning services for Tsingtao Beer but also serves as a crucial operational hub for ORG in Shandong and the broader East China region. It plays a supportive role for the Qingcheng Tsingtao Beer Intelligent Manufacturing Industrial Park in Xuecheng District. Once fully operational, this expansion is poised to significantly enhance the growth of the beer industry in Zaozhuang and foster the convergence of related supporting projects.

Upon the activation of phase I of ORG's Zaozhuang production base, the annual output of two-piece cans is projected to hit 900 million. This formidable production capacity positions the facility as a central pillar in Zaozhuang's strategic initiative to strengthen industries.

Building on this foundation, the renewable energy battery precision structural parts project represents a new collaborative venture towards a shared vision between two longstanding allies.

Beyond Canmaking: Catalyzing Growth with Renewable Energy

The precision structural parts, including aluminum shells, cover plates, and connecting pieces, are vital in ensuring the safety of renewable energy batteries, serving functions of support, protection, and energy transmission. ORG's industrial strengths lie in its cost-effective raw materials, refined process design, high automation standards, and superior product quality. Notably, ORG's commitment to the lightweight and stability of packaging products not only underscores its product excellence but also aligns with the intrinsic demands of renewable energy batteries.

\

ORG's innovative strides in producing lightweight beer cans have already set benchmarks at an international level.

As a dominant force in the metal packaging industry, ORG's accomplishments are well-recognized. Its decisive entry into the renewable energy sector is poised to mark the beginning of a new chapter, unveiling its prowess and potential in this burgeoning domain.
